Black Tot Day: "The Day the Rum Died"
Thursday July 31st
Join us in The Ka Pakele Rum Bar as we remember and mourn the day the rum died. We will be offering Black Tot cocktails and specials from 6-9 pm. This is an open seating event; first come, first serve, with limited space available. "Black Tot Day, commemorated on July 31st, marks the end of the Royal Navy's rum ration, a tradition known as the "daily tot" that had been in place for over 200 years. On this day in 1970, sailors received their final tot of rum, with many expressing their farewell to the tradition through symbolic gestures like wearing black armbands and conducting mock funerals for the rum."
